I am slowly reassembling the bike, cleaning and inspecting every part before they go on the bike.

We picked up the tank at Ben's Metalshaping Shop and we made a new gascap to match the new shape of the tank. When the flat spot was removed the position of the gascap moved about 4 mm higher.

Before I send the tank off to paint, I will remove the old coating and pressure test it to make sure there are no leaks.
Continuing with the reassembly I keep bumping into small things; brakeline is too short, taillight is too close to the tire etcetera but gradually it is starting to look like a bike again.
