After completing
all the welding on the frame it was time for the silver-soldering.
Our intention was to make the rear axle plates look like castings
and to have them match the other castings on the frame which are
also silver-soldered
The joints look
a "bit" messy now but I promise they will look great
after cleaning up. Next job was to make sure the frame was still
straight after all the heat that had gone into it from all the
welding.
Using the table
as a jig we measured the frame; we fixed the neck exactly normal
to the table and using a long iron bar in the axle slots we measured
a slight difference left and right. We were able to correct this
by modifying the axle slots, no big deal. Now we can clean up
the axle plates and finish the sissybar and fender.
