Starting on the rear exhaust pipe we fabricated a temporary
bracket to locate the muffler. This way we can lock in the
position before making the bends to the head.
The pipe we had in stock was just slightly
too big to fit in the head so Aad machined a tool to shrink
the diameter using the press. We could have machined it but
that would have left a very thin wall.
We cut off the front of the muffler and
then manipulated both the muffler and the first bend untill
the diameters matched exactly before welding. Muffler is exactly
parallel to the lower frame rail and the bottom of the oiltank.
After finisheing the welds on the rear
pipe we cleaned up and textured the stock fifth transmission
mount. This will also be the mounting point for the front muffler,
that is what the hole is for...
