Project started October 2023,

In part 37 we completed the belt drive, now we will make the primary cover. The second pic is the CAD drawing I made, the CAD files of the primary cover were used to lasercut all the pieces of the tooling. The male and female tool parts are 3 mm thick, and will be used to press the cover from 1.2 mm steel plate

First all the sharp edges had to be revoved, so we mounted a beveling tool upsidedown in a piece of MDF which made beveling all the edges a lot easier. After beveling Aad used a normal file to smooth the edges further.

The rear primary cover was made first with only the outer pieces of the tooling, then the inner pieces were welded in place to make the outer cover. The hydraulic press we used generates 150 Tons of pressure, probably way too much but it worked.

Now that the front and rear of the primary covers have been pressed, we will start fabricating the sides and then finally get started on those Imdian girder forks!
