I removed the lower tank mount from the frame as I want to make
a cleaner solution. |

To get the speedo in the right position I also had to cut off
most of the original dashmount. I fabricated a new bracket and
welded that to the frame so now the ne speedo can be mounted easily
and will appear to be floating without visible mounts. |

In my opinion the biggest disadvantage of the Motogadget Tiny
speedo, of which I am using the internals, is the super tiny wiring
which is not easy to connect to the rest of the bike. And very
fragile! There are 9 wires that together fit inside a 3 mm sleeve,
so way to small to crimp a connector on to. I came up with a small
piece of circuitboard with a 10 pins connector and designed a
housing to fit that in. I had the housing printed, soldered the
wires to the circuitboard and connector, and then filled the housing
with 2 component Epoxy so the whole thing is pretty bulletproof
and there is very little risk of accidentally pulling off a wire.
Probably overkill but whatever, haha |
