Ernst needed
a set of manifolds for 2 Weber IDF carbs on his Yamaha V-max.
He made a fixture and the flanges himself and asked us to fabricate
the pipes, do the welding and machine the O-ring grooves. Out
of a solid lump of aluminum we made the shape of the inside of
the tapered pipe. We folded paper around this part and made a
template to cut 4 pieces of 3mm aluminum sheet. After annealing
the aluminum I formed it around the solid part by hand and Aad
did the welding.
When the
4 tapered parts were welded to the lower flanges Aad machined
all the pieces to the exact same size and machined O-ring grooves
in the bottom of the flanges. I mounted all the parts to the fixture
Ernst made and I made a cardboard template for the next part and
then cut 4 pieces of aluminum to size. To be continued.....
