Project started October 2023,

In this episode we add "sleeves" to the neck and then weld, grind and texture it to look like a casting

The lower sleeves were a bit tricky as there we did not have a tubesize that fit exactly around the downtubes, so the sleeves are made from several pieces puzzled together. The top sleeve, being straight, was quite eaasy

After welding all the bits together in the jig, the neck was removed and the welds were built up further. Using a ball tip grinder the welds were smoothed and then everything was texturized. This made the neck look almost too rough, but after shotblasting it we had the look we were after.

After this, we mounted the neck in the big Ursus lathe to machine the pockets for the bearing cups. If we had done this before all the welding the holes would have distorted from all that heat.
