-Fueltank:
Decided
to continue with the fueltank, replacing all the thin spots.
This will be quite a job since we refuse to use any kind of
bondo. We will use lead to build up some thickness around the
welds instead of grinding the welds away completely, we want
the tank to look perfect without paint, and then we will paint
it anyway.
In
the first pic on this page you can see a test area that has
been leaded, works fine!
When
making very small pieces of sheetmetal we first make a cardboard
template, then cut the part slightly oversized from sheetmetal
and weld it to a piece of wire. This makes testfitting and welding
a lot easier without dropping the part inside the tank.
