Our friend Theo is restoring a Harley Davidson W from 1919, this has a rather rare boxer engine. The engine is already rebuilt but the tank was still missing, so we will be making a new tank from skratch.

PART 3

In the last "episode" the right tank half, with internal oiltank, was completed. As the 2 halves will be soldered together, it is very important to get a tight fit, so the left tank will be made in a slightly different order.

Using the right half as a jig, the contour of the left half was made from 4 separate pieces, testing them for fit continuously. The excess material of the welds is carefully ground off on the inside and outside of the tank so that the welded areas can be finished with the beadroller and under the planishing hammer. Almost done!
