We are mocking up
the mechanism for the left-side handshifter to test how it works
before we make the final parts. There will be a push-pull rod
parallel to the front downtube, then behind the neck there will be
a pivot point transferring the movement to the left side of the
bike. Where I normally would do this in CAD first, this time
we are making it up as we go along. I just make little sketches
with pen and paper to explain to Aad and will put it in CAD later
For the pivot point itself we decided
to make the final part without a mockup, as this will be welded to
the frame and I already knew how I wanted this part to look. The
pivot will have bronze bushings and a grease nipple for
lubrication.
