Ths
week we are making a sidestand for Cadbike 31. Instead of doing
a CAD model first as we usually do, we decided to mockup a simple
sidestand in steel first to figure out the dimensions and then
later use that as a template to make a nice looking stainless
steel version.
We
are using a system with a spring and ball to click the sidestand
in up and down positions. On the stainless version this will
be hidden completely.
Some
pictures of the stainless steel version in progress, the only
CNC we used was the large radius in the "leg", the
rest is all done on conventional machines. Still a lot of shaping
to be done, we want to end up with an organic looking part,
