Project started October 2023,

After drilling and tapping the wheels the aluminium wheel covers were installed on Aad's rear wheel. Before putting the wheel in the frame we had to make a new left lower shockmount, because with the fat tire and offset chain there was not enough room for the nut on the inside of the swingarm.

We tapped the swingarm and machined a new oversized stud that screws into the swingarm without the need for a nut. That is how close the sprocket is to the swingarm! Now the wheel could finally be installed.
The other ivory colored wheel in the picture will go in my Cadbike 1 by the way, more about that later.

For the right side we machined a new wheel spacer, giving it a style similar to the stock spacer. Next we aligned the wheel so it was perfectly straight in the frame and determined how much offset the transmission will need. The conclusion was that the transmission needed to move 8.5 mm to the left. We will be putting a short mainshaft in the transmission, and not be using the support bearing so the "ears" could be removed from the transmission housing. This also gives more adjustability for the transmission.

I took all the measurements from the stock transmission plate and made a CAD drawing of a new one with 8.5 mm offset. We will be making that on the Bridgeport in the next episode, see you then!
