Project started October 2023,

To finalize the rear wheel/hub we made a nice ribbed spacer for the right side. On the left there was a spacer needed between brake and hub, so we decided to just extend the rear brake sleeve. Quite a lot had been modified to squeeze in that 15"x 170 rear tire, we even revoved 2 mm from each brake shoe but now all is centered and there is enough clearance for the chain. The wheel is in the middle and the swingarm was not widened!

Next job on the list; wheelcovers! The picture below is what we want to make:

I printed the contour of the wheelcover at full scale and after checking the contour on the wheel with a piece welding rod, Aad glued the drawing on a chunk of 16 mm steel. Using the bandsaw the pieces were then cut out. The plan was to make an upper and lower die, and use the Pullmax to shape the cover. There is a 3 mm gap between the dies, and all sharp edges are smoothed so the aluminium will not be damaged.

We have not done this before so it is a bit of an experiment, but a lot of fun to do!

We tried the tooling on a piece of scrap aluminum (3 mm thick) and it looked promising, fingers crossed!
