Project started October 2023,
By now I guess we removed 70% of the donor frame, on the leftover pieces we cleaned up the welds and filled up some unused holes, then off to the blaster.

This machine shoots little steel balls using centrifugal force instead of airpressure, a very quick way to remove powdercoating! After this there was some more cleaning of welds and then we could start building the frame up again with new material, thanks to Herman at VG Classic Frames for supplying the correct tube size which is hard to find here in Europe

We put the remaining pieces of frame back in the jig, positioned the new neck in the correct position again and transferred my drawing of the new downtubes to a fullsize wooden template. We checked the template in the jig to see if it fit. It did. Then we started bending the tubes to match the template.

We will not weld the neck on yet, because we will be adding sleeves and do some needling to make the neck resemble a casting. After welding we will machine the neck to take the bearing cups and only then will we attach the neck to the frame.
