Project started October 2023,

Before cutting the frame we arre building a jig, using the welding table as part of it. The part we are working on now is to hold the steering neck in the correct position, inline with the centerline of the frame. We are using 20 mm thick steel plates and a thick walled square tube. The baseplate of the neckpost has slots so it can be mounted at any distance from the frame while remaining centered.

While making the tabs for the neckpost we concluded that we should use the beltsander differently, as it was not making the sides flat but in the radius of the sander wheel. We made a perpendicular plate on the flat part of the beltsander, which worked much better and faster!

The 1" threaded rod we planned to use for the neck was made of C45 steel, which is less than ideal for welding, so Aad used a stick welder with a UTP (nickel/chrome) electrode to make a strong weld.
