Aad welded 2 aluminum strips in the front of the new cover, and an aluminum lug on the gearbox. The idea is that the cover can be slid into place and mounted with one single sockethead screw. We fitted the lug with an helicoil to avoid stripped threads later.

Once the cover was in place I started smoothing it, starting with 40 grit sandpaper. I will work my way from course to fine sandpaper untill it blends with the crankcases. As the cases are cast and the cover is sheet aluminum, I will need to make the finishes match. Ofcouse I had to check to make sure the engine could still be mounted, and also I just wanted to see how it would look!
